Russia has attacked a number of regions in Ukraine; there have been fatalities, injuries and widespread destruction

During the night and on the morning of 6 July, Russian forces carried out strikes on Odesa and the regions of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv. The attacks have resulted in fatalities, injuries and damage to civilian infrastructure.

Odesa Region

On the night of 5 July, Russian troops attacked Odesa. A fire broke out in some garages in one of the city’s districts, but was quickly brought under control. Windows were smashed in nearby houses, and an emergency response team was working at the scene. At another location, private homes were damaged. A 23-year-old man was injured and received the necessary medical attention.

As of 7.00 am, the Odesa City Military Administration reported that five private homes and a hall of residence had been damaged in the Kyivskyi district. Clearing of the rubble is ongoing. The tram tracks have already been repaired, and transport services have not been disrupted. In the Khadzhibey district, the area around the buildings has been cleared. In total, residents have submitted 26 claims for compensation.

Kherson Region

In Kherson this morning, a Russian drone attacked a 52-year-old woman in the Dniprovskyi district. She sustained shrapnel wounds to the head and torso, concussion, blast injury and a closed head injury. The victim was hospitalised in a moderately serious condition.

Later, a Russian drone attacked a civilian vehicle in the Central district of Kherson. Two men were killed. Two more women, aged 53 and 54, suffered concussions, blast injuries and closed head injuries. They were taken to hospital. A trolleybus was also damaged in the Korabelny district as a result of a drone attack.

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Russian forces shelled 38 settlements in the region over the past 24 hours. Four people were injured. Two high-rise blocks, three private houses, a mobile phone mast, a grain silo, outbuildings and private cars were damaged.

Zaporizhzhia Region

In the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian troops carried out 989 strikes on 52 settlements over the past 24 hours. One person was killed and a further 25 were injured. There were 266 reports of damage to infrastructure, homes and vehicles.

In the morning, Russian troops also attacked petrol stations in Zaporizhzhia. According to preliminary information, three people were injured as a result of one of the strikes. Emergency services are working at the scenes.

Dnipropetrovsk region

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces attacked the Dniprovskyi, Nikopolskyi and Synelnykivskyi districts with drones on more than ten occasions. Damage has been reported.

In Dnipro, a sorting terminal belonging to the “Nova Poshta” company was damaged in a morning attack. A fire broke out following the strike but has since been extinguished. There were no fatalities or injuries. The company is using alternative logistics routes to deliver parcels.

Donetsk Oblast

In the Donetsk region, Russian troops wounded eight civilians over the past 24 hours.

Sumy Region

In the Sumy region, the Russian army attacked populated areas more than fifty times between the morning of 5 July and the morning of 6 July. A woman was injured, and civilian infrastructure was also damaged.

Kharkiv Region

In the Kharkiv region, Kharkiv and eight other towns and villages in the region came under Russian attack. Three people were killed and a further 16 were injured over the past 24 hours.

Chernihiv Region

In the Chernihiv region, Russian troops attacked a forestry office, agricultural enterprises, energy facilities and a community centre. In Semenivka, a forestry office and a residential building were damaged as a result of the strike. In Snovsk, an attack caused a fire in a farm building on the premises of an agricultural enterprise, and subsequently, following another strike, a fire broke out in a grain store. A garage in a residential area was also destroyed. In the Korop community, a residential building caught fire after being hit by a drone, and windows were smashed in a neighbouring house. Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have also targeted energy facilities in the region.
