A massive Russian shelling of Kyiv on the night of 6 July damaged the only studio belonging to ‘Channel 5’.

This was reported by TV presenter Anna Miroshnychenko.

“My workplace. I was due to be on air at this desk today from 12 noon. The Channel 5 office has been attacked for the second time. Exactly a year ago, on 10 July, we were already hit,” she wrote.

According to her, none of the channel’s staff were injured, but the studio has been damaged and some of the equipment destroyed.

Channel 5’s editor-in-chief, Iryna Herasymova, told hromadske that the broadcaster is continuing to operate — journalists are working from home.

“Broadcasting from the studio is impossible; they’ve destroyed the last studio that survived the shelling on 10 July last year. It’s currently impossible to get to the channel’s premises because they’re in a very damaged state. I don’t know what we’ll do, as the equipment has been destroyed — the broadcast and technical control rooms have been destroyed, and the last remaining studio has been destroyed. At the moment, the team is working on digital platforms and on YouTube,” said Gerasimova.

It should be recalled that nine people were killed as a result of Russia’s massive combined attack on Kyiv on the night of 6 July. Forty-six people were injured, including five children. Rescue operations are ongoing.
