Since the start of the war, the SBU’s ‘Alpha’ unit has destroyed or neutralised nearly 35,000 enemy assets, including over 23,000 UAVs
This was reported by the SBU.
On 23 June, ‘Alfa’ marks the 32nd anniversary of the unit’s formation. For the past three months, the Special Operations Centre has topped the rankings for eliminating enemy personnel and Russian equipment using UAVs.
“The Russians are regularly taking a beating, and on the front line, the number of surviving occupiers is steadily decreasing, whilst their damaged equipment is being destroyed on a daily basis. The unit is responsible for up to 20 per cent of all enemy infantry losses,” said Major General Yevhen Khmara, acting head of the SBU.
Among the Russian equipment destroyed by ‘Alpha’ fighters since the start of the full-scale invasion, as of June 2026:
- 1,896 tanks;
- 3,458 armoured fighting vehicles;
- 344 multiple launch rocket systems;
- 3,952 artillery systems;
- 649 air defence systems;
- 540 electronic warfare/signals intelligence systems;
- 23,517 UAVs/unmanned aerial vehicles.
In addition, servicemen from the SBU’s ‘Alfa’ unit are carrying out long-range strikes against the Russian Federation. For instance, fighters from the Centre, together with other units, recently carried out a successful strike on the Moscow oil refinery, as well as hitting the ‘Tamanneftegaz’ oil and gas terminal in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, a gas terminal at the port of Temryuk, infrastructure at the oil terminal in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation, the Lukoil-Permnaftorgsintez oil refinery and other key Russian facilities.
During the full-scale invasion, 25 Special Operations Forces soldiers were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, whilst over 1,000 military personnel received other state honours, the SBU press service added.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that the Defence Forces struck the ‘Dubna’ space communications centre in the Moscow Region.
