The Ukrainian company SkyFall and Airbus Defence and Space have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding a strategic partnership. The collaboration aims to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian and European airspace against drones and missiles.

The Ukrainian technology and defence company SkyFall and Airbus Defence and Space have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a strategic partnership.

The document was signed during the ILA Berlin Air Show in Berlin in the presence of German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.

The parties cite the main aim of the cooperation as strengthening the protection of the airspace of Ukraine and European states against massive attacks by drones and missiles. The initiative is also designed to reinforce Ukraine’s role as one of Europe’s leading centres for defence technology.

One of the key areas of cooperation will be the integration of Ukrainian P1-SUN interceptors with the Airbus Air C2 airspace management system.

SkyFall noted that the P1-SUN interceptors have already demonstrated high effectiveness in real combat conditions against various types of aerial targets.

“The P1-SUN interceptors have already destroyed around 10,000 Russian drones of various types, confirming the technology’s effectiveness in countering air threats. This formed the basis for our partnership with Airbus, within which we are working to create a new-generation, multi-layered air defence system,” said a company representative.

Michael Schellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, stated that flexibility and solutions with short development cycles are essential to counter modern air attack capabilities.

“On the Airbus side, we bring systems expertise and experience in the C2 domain, particularly in integrated air and missile defence; on the Ukrainian side, we have invaluable combat experience and technologies proven in real-world conditions,” he said.

According to Schellhorn, combining these capabilities will be another step towards creating a robust, multi-layered air defence system, developed at the pace required by the modern battlefield.

The company also noted that the partnership aligns with the objectives of the European Sky Shield initiative and will contribute to Europe’s technological sovereignty, opening the way for Ukrainian defence developments to enter the European market.
