The recall was prompted by a defect in the chrome finish on the centre console, which could create sharp edges.

Ford has announced a recall of 548,463 vehicles in the US due to a potential defect in the centre console.

This was reported by Reuters, citing the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to the regulator, the problem relates to the chrome finish on the centre console. Over time, it may peel away and become deformed, creating sharp edges.

The NHTSA notes that contact with such elements may increase the risk of injury to passengers.

The recall affects some 2018–2024 model year Ford Expedition vehicles.

According to the regulator, the problem may have been caused by the manufacturing parameters of the chrome finish, which did not meet Ford’s technical requirements.

To rectify the defect, dealerships will inspect the vehicles and, if necessary, replace the centre console free of charge.

Earlier, Ford also announced plans to launch seven new car models on the European market by 2029.

As a reminder, it was recently reported that Tesla has regained its leadership in the global electric vehicle market.
