Budanov announced changes for Ukraine’s frontline areas
This was announced by Kirill Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on social media.
According to him, together with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, government representatives and MPs, they held a coordination meeting regarding the situation in the frontline regions. Budanov stressed that these territories require specific solutions, as living conditions there differ significantly from those in the rear regions.
They want to create a separate law for frontline territories
According to Budanov, more than 6 million citizens currently live near the front line in 10 regions of Ukraine. Despite constant shelling and danger, people remain in their communities, continuing to work, support the local economy and sustain life in their settlements. At the same time, thousands of infrastructure facilities have already been destroyed by Russian attacks, and local authorities are facing problems that cannot be solved by conventional means.
What might change for residents near the front line
The new law is intended to define the specific arrangements for the operation and support of frontline territories. Among the key issues to be addressed are:
- protection of critical and energy infrastructure;
- support for local budgets;
- assistance to internally displaced persons;
- safety of people who continue to work in dangerous areas;
- support for medical staff, teachers and utility workers.
To prepare the amendments, there are plans to set up an inter-ministerial working group involving the government and MPs. Budanov noted that temporary solutions are no longer sufficient for such communities.
“People living so close to the front line must have the full support of the state,” he emphasised.
