The government has appointed Maksym Tsutsikiridze as acting head of the National Police of Ukraine
Maksym Tsutsikiridze
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has temporarily appointed Maksym Tsutsikiridze to act as head of the National Police. The government adopted the relevant decision on 17 July

This was announced by Taras Melnychuk, the representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

What is known about the government’s personnel decision

The decision to appoint Tsutsikiridze on a temporary basis was part of a series of personnel changes approved by the government at its meeting on 17 July.

Maksym Tsutsikiridze has worked in the internal affairs services for almost two decades. After graduating from Kharkiv University of Internal Affairs, he began his service as an investigator in the Kirovohrad region, and later moved to the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Since 2019, he has been a member of the National Police leadership, and in 2023 he was appointed First Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine and took charge of the Main Investigation Department.

Who is Maksym Tsutsikiridze

Maksym Tsutsikiridze is a second-rank police general, Doctor of Law, professor and Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine. He is the author of over 90 academic and educational works on criminal procedure, the activities of pre-trial investigation bodies and the law enforcement system. Under his leadership, the Main Investigation Department of the National Police is, in particular, investigating war crimes committed by Russia during the full-scale war.
