The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence is developing a concept for an electronic combat log. It is intended to help military personnel keep track of their ‘combat’ hours.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defence Mstislav Banik, according to a report in *Babel*.

Currently, data on combat operations is recorded in paper combat logs. To obtain this information, a serviceman must visit all the brigades and units in which he has served. This is a lengthy process and often even impossible.

To simplify the process, the Ministry of Defence will issue ‘administrative decisions’ requiring military units to provide such information. An electronic combat log is one of the mechanisms designed to help with this.

Another additional source of data is financial documentation, which shows when a serviceman received ‘combat’ allowances.

It is important to monitor a soldier’s combat deployments and record such data in the log, as this will affect not only salary payments but also the additional extension of the deferral period.

As a reminder, on 12 June, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced reforms within the Defence Forces. Among the changes are three new types of military contract, salaries of up to 460,000 hryvnias, and a phased withdrawal from service.
