Trump talks about Greenland again and sharply addresses Denmark
U.S. President Donald Trump has made another high-profile statement on Greenland, this time not only calling on Denmark to get off the island immediately, but also threatening the Prime Minister of Greenland with serious problems.
Trump posted the relevant post on his social media platform Truth Social, addressing Denmark on behalf of NATO. In the message, he said that only the United States is able to provide effective control and security in the region.
During the conversation with journalists, Trump was also asked about Greenland's position to remain part of Denmark, a statement made by the island's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen the day before. The US president responded sharply, noting that he disagreed with this approach and actually questioned the political weight of the Greenlandic leader.
Trump also shared a link to a story by Just The News, which says that the Danish authorities are allegedly downplaying the threats to Greenland from Russia and China. The publication reminds that Danish intelligence has recently officially warned about the military ambitions of both countries in the Arctic and around the island.
The article also mentions Trump's previous statements that the US views Greenland as a key element of national security. At the time, the US leader claimed that the region was under growing influence from Russia and China, although Danish officials denied these claims.
At the same time, the Danish intelligence report Intelligence Outlook 2025, published in December, explicitly states that China is preparing to increase its military presence in the Arctic, and Russia is actively monitoring and mapping key sea routes around Greenland.
