Turkey lost to Paraguay: a single goal decided the outcome of the 2026 World Cup match

The match between Turkey and Paraguay took place at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara and ended 0–1. Paraguay opened the scoring as early as the second minute. The team launched a swift attack, which was finished off by Galarsó following a pass from Enciso – the player struck the ball precisely into the right-hand corner of the net. After that, the Turkish side began to control the ball more and look for chances in front of their opponents’ goal. One of the most dangerous moments of the first half was created by Muldur, but his header hit the crossbar.
Paraguay finished the match a man down
Towards the end of the first half, Paraguay were reduced to ten men. In the 45+3rd minute, the referee showed Almirón a red card after consulting VAR. After the break, Turkey tried to capitalise on their numerical advantage and salvage the match. Uzun, Gül and Demiral all had dangerous chances, but were unable to beat the Paraguayan goalkeeper. In stoppage time, Demiral had a chance to equalise with a header, but the ball went wide by a few centimetres.
