Power cuts continue in Kyiv and other regions due to power shortages

Restoration work on energy facilities is ongoing, and due to capacity shortages and bad weather, power supply restrictions are in place in a number of regions.

Work continues in Ukraine to restore damaged energy facilities. There is still a shortage of electricity in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, which is why, on 29 January, the distribution system operator in the capital introduced temporary electricity supply schedules in line with available resources.

Hourly power outages and power restrictions for businesses are in effect throughout the country. In some regions, emergency power cuts are also being introduced due to the difficult situation in the power system. The Ministry of Energy notes that after the power system stabilises, consumers will gradually return to the predicted hourly schedules. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, citing a briefing by First Deputy Minister Artem Nekrasov as of 30 January.

Separately, it is reported that due to difficult weather conditions, more than 270 settlements in the Odesa, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions remain without electricity. Emergency teams from regional power companies are working around the clock to restore damaged power lines, particularly in difficult conditions.
