Ukraine is set to receive dozens of new MSFV armoured vehicles from the US
This was announced by Textron Systems.
Production of the Mobile Strike Force Vehicle (MSFV) has commenced at the company’s plant in Slidell, Louisiana. The armoured vehicles are being manufactured as part of support for Ukraine and to enhance the capabilities of the Ukrainian ground forces on the battlefield. Textron Systems noted that prior to the start of production, the company spent several months preparing the production line and processes to fulfil the order.
What is known about the MSFV armoured vehicles
The MSFVs are based on the COMMANDO Select family of armoured vehicles. This platform is designed to carry out combat missions in challenging conditions and combines mobility, armoured protection and the ability to manoeuvre quickly. The vehicles can be used to transport troops, support operations and carry out tasks on the battlefield. According to the manufacturer, the COMMANDO family has been in use for over 60 years and has been supplied to various US military partners.
When will Ukraine receive the new vehicles?
The factory in Louisiana has already moved on to full MSFV assembly. The production process includes body manufacturing, welding, system installation and final testing. The company states that the resumption of the production line will ensure the necessary pace of armoured vehicle manufacturing. In total, 65 MSFV mobile assault vehicles are planned to be manufactured for Ukraine.
