Ukraine and Portugal agree on joint production of marine drones
Ukraine and Portugal have reached an agreement on the joint production of marine drones. This is reported by The Public with reference to Rtp.pt.
This was announced by Advisor to the President of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshin on the day of the visit of Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro to Kyiv.
According to Kamyshin, Ukrainian naval drones have already proven effective in the fight against Russian warships and submarines. Now, these technologies will help Portugal strengthen the defence of its European maritime borders.
The agreement was announced after Montenegro and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy jointly participated in a commemoration ceremony at the Wall of Remembrance in Kyiv. This is Montenegro's first visit to Ukraine since taking office as head of government.
The Portuguese prime minister arrived in Kyiv by night train from Poland together with the Minister of Defence. He emphasised that the trip has a symbolic meaning and is a confirmation of consistent support for Ukraine since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion on 24 February 2022.
Montenegro said that Ukraine is in particular need of international solidarity and financial assistance. According to him, Portugal is already providing support at the humanitarian, social, military and political levels, and the new agreement on joint production of drones is a practical contribution to the security of Europe.
