President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Armenia on 3 May, where he spent the first day holding meetings ahead of the European Political Community summit. According to him, the talks focused on three key areas: ending the war, accelerating European funding of €90 billion, and strengthening Ukraine’s air defence and energy support.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Telegram.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy summed up the first day of his visit to Armenia.

According to him, the meetings and talks took place on the eve of the European Political Community summit.

The Head of State noted that the first day was devoted to coordination between Ukraine and its European partners.

Zelenskyy outlined three key tasks that Ukraine is working on during the visit.

The first task is to bring about a dignified end to the war.

The President said he had briefed partners on the state of diplomatic efforts, possible prospects and planned contacts.

According to him, Ukraine needs joint action with its partners to step up diplomatic efforts and prevent any easing of pressure on Russia.

“Russia must end this war of its own making. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.

The second task concerns the implementation of the €90 billion European support package for Ukraine.

According to the president, this funding is being expedited.

Zelenskyy identified the third priority as strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, energy support for Ukraine, and cooperation with partners in the energy sector.

The President noted that Ukraine is already actively preparing for the new heating season.

The state is also diversifying the relevant support.

Zelenskyy reported that he had informed partners of all of Ukraine’s needs for defence and reconstruction.

“I thank every partner who is ready to help,” added the head of state.

What else is known

During the visit, Zelenskyy held talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The parties discussed defence support for Ukraine, in particular contributions to the PURL programme.

Energy and peace initiatives were also discussed.

In addition, Zelenskyy met with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. The President thanked Finland for its decision to allocate an additional $300 million in defence support for Ukraine. He also proposed strengthening the bilateral partnership through the signing of a Drone Deal agreement.
