Zelensky and Pistorius launched Europe's first joint production of Ukrainian drones
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, visited the production facilities of the joint Ukrainian-German enterprise Quantum Frontline Industries GmbH in southern Germany. This is the first site in Europe for the serial production of Ukrainian unmanned systems.
The head of state was shown the automated production line and conducted a test flight of the first strike drone manufactured at the German facility. The production technology is Ukrainian, the drones are equipped with artificial intelligence and have already proven their effectiveness on the front lines. In particular, this refers to the scaling of the Lensa bomber drone, which provides tactical reconnaissance and mining of territories.
According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive 10,000 drones produced jointly with Germany this year. The president personally accepted the first jointly manufactured strike drone. By the end of the year, it is planned to open 10 more similar enterprises in Europe.
Boris Pistorius stressed that current production volumes are 10,000 drones per year, but there are no restrictions on growth. He emphasised that the project was implemented in an extremely short time frame. The memorandum on strengthening defence cooperation within the Contact Group was signed only in October last year, and today Germany is already handing over the first manufactured drone to Ukraine. The minister noted that the innovations and experience gained through cooperation strengthen the defence capabilities of Germany and Europe.
During the event, five cooperation documents were signed in the presence of the President. In particular, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius signed an agreement between the defence ministries on the integration of Ukrainian instructors into the schools and combat training centres of the German Army. Three memoranda were also signed on the creation of joint ventures between Airlogix and Auterion, Tencore IFernride and Tafindustries Windcopter, as well as a memorandum between Ukrainian Defence Industry and SAAB.
The joint venture Quantum Frontline Industries was launched on 15 December 2025 as part of the Build with Ukraine initiative. The merger of Germany's Quantum Systems and Ukraine's Frontline Robotics marked the start of the first industrial production of Ukrainian drones in Europe.
The President thanked the German government, Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Boris Pistorius for their support of Ukraine. He stressed that after the war ends, these drones will also work to ensure the security of Germany and all of Europe.
