Zelenskyy on talks with the US in Berlin: difficult, but there is a result
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the talks with the US delegation in Berlin as difficult but productive. He said this in a speech at the closing of the German-Ukrainian Economic Forum on 15 December. It is reported by The Public with reference to DW.
According to the head of state, a lot of time is devoted to the meetings, and the work is carried out point by point with a focus on the steps necessary to achieve a decent peace. Zelenskyy emphasised that Ukraine's diplomacy is aimed at a real end to the war, not formal agreements.
The President acknowledged that Ukraine and the United States still have different positions on territorial issues. He noted that the American side acts as a mediator and offers various options for finding a compromise. At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasised that it is crucial for Kyiv that all decisions are fair and respect Ukraine's sovereignty.
Zelenskyy also drew attention to the unity of European partners, which, according to him, helps to restore a sense of fairness in the negotiations. He did not disclose details of the consultations with the US side.
