The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, congratulated the United States of America on Independence Day, thanked the American people for their support of Ukraine and emphasised the role of the US in the struggle for freedom

Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel

Zelenskyy: Ukraine values US support

The President noted that the American dream of an independent, free and democratic nation has served as an example to other nations for 250 years.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is currently fighting for those very same values — freedom, independence and the right of people to a happy life.

“We greatly appreciate the support of the United States, especially now, at a time of full-scale war by Russia against Ukraine,” he emphasised.

Gratitude for the Patriot systems and military aid

The President made a special mention of US military support, in particular the transfer of Javelin anti-tank systems and Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, it is precisely these systems that are helping to save the lives of Ukrainians and protect Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks.

He also stressed that Ukraine is counting on continued American leadership in defending freedom and peace.

“The world needs leadership that guarantees the protection of freedom and life,” the Head of State remarked.

At the end of his address, the President wished the United States and the American people every success and expressed his confidence that, through joint efforts, Ukraine and the US would be able to achieve a just peace.
