At the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Spanish and Belgian national teams failed to secure a win in their opening group stage matches. Both matches ended in a draw.

The final stages of the 23rd FIFA World Cup are currently underway in Mexico, the USA and Canada.

The Spanish national team began their campaign with a match against Cape Verde. The fixture at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta ended goalless. The teams were unable to find the net and the match ended 0-0.

Another first-round match took place in Group G. At Lumen Field in Seattle, Belgium and Egypt drew 1–1.

Egyptian midfielder Emam Ashour opened the scoring in the 21st minute. The Belgians equalised in the 66th minute following an own goal by Mohamed Hani, who deflected the ball into his own net.

The 2026 World Cup is the first to feature 48 national teams. Argentina remain the reigning champions.
