A Russian veteran of the war against Ukraine has threatened Putin with a mutiny
This was reported by TSN.
What the Russian military officer said
According to Lunin, hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers are allegedly being held in so-called ‘dungeons’ — pits where commanders place their subordinates as a form of punishment. He also claims that soldiers are tortured for refusing to carry out orders or for refusing to hand over money to their commanders.
According to the blogger, some soldiers may subsequently be ‘zeroed’ — as extrajudicial killings are known in Russian military circles.
Lunin stated that Putin must meet with him in person and listen to his account of the situation in the army.
“If I do not arrive at the Kremlin in the near future and appear live on air alongside you, the army will turn its weapons against the Kremlin. I am merely passing on a message,” he said in a video address.
According to the publication *Meduza*, Oleksandr Lunin served in the Russian Army’s 150th Motorised Rifle Division and was wounded during combat operations.
How the Kremlin reacted
Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that he was aware of the video message but, according to him, had not yet had time to watch it.
“We have been told that such a message exists, but we haven’t had time to look at it yet. So I wouldn’t want to comment on it. Judging by what you’ve said, there are some rather strange formulations in it; we need to familiarise ourselves with it first,” Peskov said.
