Russian attacks in various regions of Ukraine have resulted in deaths, injuries and destruction

During the night of 16 June and over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have attacked a number of regions in Ukraine using drones, artillery and other weapons. There have been fatalities and injuries, and significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

Kharkiv Region

In the Kharkiv region, Russian troops attacked Balakliya with drones during the night. Eight people were injured in the strike, including a 4-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy. Four large-scale fires broke out in the town. Private houses, outbuildings, cars, a flat and a basement in a high-rise block were on fire. The premises of a municipal utility company were also hit. Rescue workers, bomb disposal experts and local fire crews were working at the scene.

Zaporizhzhia region

In the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian forces carried out 798 strikes on 47 settlements over the past 24 hours. Eleven people were injured as a result of attacks on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district. There were 115 reports of damage to residential buildings, vehicles and infrastructure.

Sumy region

In the Sumy region, Russian troops attacked 24 settlements over the past 24 hours. In the Bilopil community, a 57-year-old man was killed by a drone strike. A bus and a hangar were damaged. In the Seredyna-Budsk community, a 69-year-old woman was killed as a result of drone attacks. Six people were injured, including two young children. Private homes were also destroyed.

In the Hlukhiv community, a 63-year-old woman was injured when a drone struck a residential building. Another drone attacked a car, injuring a 71-year-old man. In the Sumy community, an 11-year-old girl and two women aged 65 and 38 were injured in a UAV attack. A 13-year-old girl was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction. An apartment block and a public building were damaged.

In the Shostka community, a 34-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl were injured as a result of a Russian drone attack. An apartment block, a shop, a community centre and a car were damaged. Rescue workers extinguished the fires and carried out emergency repair work.

Kherson region

In the Kherson region, Russian forces attacked an ambulance with a drone during the night as it responded to a call in the Korabelny district of Kherson. Two medics, aged 51 and 63, were injured. Both were diagnosed with concussion and head injuries. The younger man was hospitalised.

In total, over the past 24 hours in the Kherson region, one person was killed and 21 others were injured, including a child, as a result of Russian strikes. Five private homes, a supermarket and private cars were damaged. In the morning, a Russian drone attacked a minibus in the Korabelny district of Kherson. A man was killed instantly as a result of the strike.

Dnipropetrovsk region

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces attacked the Nikopol and Synelnykivskyi districts more than ten times with drones and artillery. In the Nikopol district, the communities of Nikopol, Chervonohryhorivka, Marganetsk and Pokrovsk came under attack. Infrastructure and a car were damaged. A 39-year-old man was injured and will receive outpatient treatment. In the Synelnykivskyi district, an apartment block and cars were damaged.

In the Kirovohrad region, a livestock complex building was damaged during a night-time drone attack in the Oleksandriia district. Over 20 head of cattle were killed. Information on other consequences is being clarified.
