The Ukrainian Defence Forces have attacked the Tyumen oil refinery in Russia, which is located approximately 2,000 kilometres from the Ukrainian border. Prior to the explosions, a warning had been issued in the region regarding drones.

Serhiy Sternenko, an adviser to the Minister of Defence, reported this on the social media platform X.

What is known about the attack on the Tyumen oil refinery

According to him, local residents reported at least two explosions in the vicinity of the plant. Prior to this, a state of alert had been declared in the city due to the threat of a drone attack.

It was also reported that the refinery was urgently relieving pressure in the system.

The Tyumen Oil Refinery is located approximately 2,000 km from Ukraine. The plant’s design capacity is between 7.5 and 9 million tonnes of crude oil processing per year. The governor of the Tyumen region also confirmed the drone attack, according to Russian media reports.

The Ukrainian side has repeatedly emphasised that facilities within the Russian Federation’s fuel and energy complex are being used to supply the Russian army.
