Joshua insists on fighting Fury without warming up with other fights
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is ready to fight a fight of principle against Tyson Fury without any interim fights. This was announced by the promoter Eddie Hearn, commenting on the position of his client.
According to Hearn, Joshua considers himself fully prepared for the fight with Fury and sees no need for additional fights to improve his form. The boxer is convinced that his current level of training allows him to immediately enter one of the most anticipated fights of the decade.
At the same time, the head of the General Authority of Entertainment of Saudi Arabia Turki Al Al Sheikh previously expressed a different position. He is inclined to a scenario in which each of the boxers will fight one fight before the face-to-face meeting to reduce risks and fuel interest in the confrontation.
Joshua recently confirmed his ambitions in practice. On 20 December, he won an early sixth-round victory over Jake Paul, after which he publicly challenged Fury. According to the boxer's entourage, this success gave him confidence in his readiness for an immediate mega-fight.
The issue of organising the fight remains open, but the interest of the parties and the financial capabilities of potential promoters make the meeting between Joshua and Fury one of the most realistic events in the heavyweight division in 2026.
