According to Shaternikova, the decision was taken during a meeting of the European Boxing Union’s Executive Committee, which is taking place as part of the EBU’s annual assembly in Tirana. She noted that all board members voted unanimously to maintain the current position on sanctions against representatives of Russian and Belarusian professional boxing.
“The sanctions remain in force,” Shaternikova wrote.

The EBU’s stance on Russia and Belarus
Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, international sports organisations began imposing restrictions on representatives of the Russian Federation and Belarus. At the same time, the issue of Russian and Belarusian athletes returning to international competitions remains a subject of debate in the global sporting community.
