Failed the NMT: can I retake the test next year?
There is no limit on the number of attempts — the national multi-subject test can be taken every year.
Applicants who have failed the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT) or are dissatisfied with their results may retake the test next year. Retaking the exam to improve one’s marks during the current admissions cycle is not permitted.

This has been reported by the Ukrainian Centre for Educational Quality Assessment and experts in the field of university admissions.

If an applicant has not achieved the required number of marks or is simply dissatisfied with their test results, they may retake the NMT during the next admissions campaign.

There are no restrictions on the number of attempts — the National Multidisciplinary Test can be taken every year.

Why you cannot retake the NMT this year

Receiving a low score does not entitle you to retake the test within the same admissions cycle.

The supplementary session is not an opportunity to improve your result. It is intended only for those candidates who were unable to sit the NMT for objective reasons.

Who is eligible for the additional session

Only applicants who were unable to complete or sit the NMT for valid reasons may retake the test this year.

These include:

– feeling unwell or being ill;

– a prolonged air raid alert;

– technical faults at the examination centre;

– other circumstances, supported by documentary evidence.

When a resit may be refused

Participants who have breached the examination rules are not entitled to a resit.

This includes, in particular, the use of communication devices, cheating, or other breaches of the NMT procedure.

In such cases, the result will be annulled without the right to retake the exam in the current year.

How to register for the NMT next year

To take part in the NMT next year, you must wait for registration to open and create a personal account on the UCEQA website.

During registration, you will need to provide your personal details, select your chosen subject and the location where you plan to take the test.

Graduates from previous years may also take part in the NMT by uploading their educational qualification.

What documents are required

The following are usually required for registration:

– a passport or other identity document;

– tax registration number;

– a certificate of full secondary education or a reference from your educational institution;

– where necessary, documents confirming eligibility for special test conditions.

What to do if you did not pass the NMT

If you have not been successful in gaining entry to a higher education institution this year, you can use the time to prepare for the next round of testing or consider alternative study options, such as applying to a college or a vocational pre-higher education institution.
