Ghana appealed to Zelensky regarding the release of its prisoners
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing a statement by Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Ablakwi.
According to the Ghanaian Foreign Minister, during talks with the Ukrainian President, the parties discussed a humanitarian appeal for the release of Ghanaian citizens. He specified that this concerns two citizens of the country who are being held as prisoners of war.
Samuel Ablakwa said that this issue was raised during his official visit to Kyiv. He posted this information on his Facebook page.
According to the research organisation Inpact, a total of 1,417 citizens of African countries have been identified as fighting on the side of Russia. Of these, 234 are citizens of Ghana.
Earlier, Kenya and South Africa reported the return of their citizens who had signed contracts with the Russian military.
