China calls on the US to lift restrictions on drone supplies and threatens to retaliate
The Chinese government has called on the United States to abandon restrictions on the supply of unmanned systems and stop the practice of including foreign drones and their key components in the list of objects considered a risk to US national security. This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, according to Ukrinform.
Beijing stressed that Washington's decision actually equates all foreign drone systems to security threats and undermines the principles of free trade. The Chinese side accused the United States of abusing national security arguments to put pressure on companies from other countries, including Chinese ones, and called these actions a manifestation of protectionism and distortion of market competition.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce stressed that such restrictions negatively affect global supply chains and innovations in the field of drone technology. It also expressed its readiness to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese manufacturers if the US restrictions remain in place.
China called on the US side to immediately lift the relevant bans and warned that if unilateral actions continue, Beijing will take the necessary measures in response. The statement came amid an escalating technological confrontation between the world's two largest economies and tighter control over high-tech exports.
