Norway beat Côte d’Ivoire to reach the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup
The Norwegian national team beat the Ivory Coast in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup. The match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, USA, ended 2–1.
The Norwegians opened the scoring towards the end of the first half. In the 39th minute, Antonio Nusa received a pass from Martin Ødegaard on the left flank of the penalty area and sent the ball into the top far corner of the net with a precise shot.
In the second half, the Ivory Coast national team managed to equalise. In the 74th minute, Amad Diallo received the ball from Nicolas Pépé on the right-hand side of the penalty area, beat several opponents and fired a precise shot into the far corner.
Norway scored the winning goal in the 86th minute. Erling Haaland met Patrick Berg’s cross from the right-hand side of the penalty area and slotted the ball into the empty net.
In the World Cup round of 16, Norway will face Brazil. The Brazilians secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Japan in their round of 32 match.
The 2026 World Cup is taking place from 11 June to 19 July in the USA, Mexico and Canada. This is the first World Cup to feature 48 national teams, the largest number in the tournament’s history.
