Oleg Zhdanov: Russia may change its air strike tactics
Military expert Oleg Zhdanov
The Russian army may adjust its tactics for air strikes on Ukraine in the near future. According to military expert Oleg Zhdanov, the occupying forces will increasingly use drones to distract Ukrainian air defences, whilst launching ballistic missiles in salvos at specific targets

He spoke about this in a comment to TSN.

How Russia’s tactics might change

According to Zhdanov, drones could be launched in small groups to force Ukrainian air defence to expend its resources. After that, the expert believes, Russia would be capable of launching massive strikes with ballistic missiles against specific targets.

“Drones will be deployed in small batches to distract our air defence system, whilst ballistic missiles will be launched in coordinated strikes against specific targets,” Zhdanov noted.

He also pointed out that, according to publicly available data from Ukrainian intelligence, Russia produces around 40–50 Iskander missiles every month.

According to the expert’s assessment, if approximately five missiles are used per strike, this stockpile would be sufficient for around ten such attacks per month. In that case, Russian forces would potentially be able to carry out such strikes every two to three days.
