UNDP has allocated over $1 billion for Ukraine’s recovery – Foreign Ministry
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
On 30 March, Mariana Betsa held a meeting with Ivana Živković, who was in Ukraine on a working visit. The parties discussed Ukraine’s recovery, energy resilience and funding for UNDP activities in Ukraine.
As Betsa emphasised, the amount of aid that the UNDP has already allocated to Ukraine’s recovery and development exceeds $1 billion. She also highlighted the programme’s contribution to strengthening energy resilience, the rehabilitation and further reintegration of Ukrainian veterans, as well as humanitarian demining.
What else was discussed at the meeting
Separately, the parties discussed further cooperation on the restoration of Ukraine’s power generation capacity, particularly in the context of preparations for the coming autumn-winter period. They also discussed ensuring adequate donor funding for UNDP’s operational activities in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that, following the talks, the parties agreed on further steps as part of joint efforts aimed at supporting Ukraine’s recovery and strengthening its resilience. Ivana Živković, for her part, confirmed the UNDP’s readiness to continue scaling up support for Ukraine.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Bulgarian Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov signed a security cooperation agreement for at least ten years. The document provides for the continuation of military aid to Ukraine, the development of defence-industrial cooperation, Bulgaria’s participation in the PURL programme, and support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
