President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that, following the NATO summit in Ankara, Ukraine will shortly receive a consignment of PAC-3 interceptor missiles from the US for its Patriot systems. Discussions are also ongoing with European partners regarding further deliveries.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has stated that, following the NATO summit in Ankara, Ukraine will receive a consignment of PAC-3 interceptor missiles from the United States for its Patriot air defence systems in the coming days.

“I believe this has been a productive summit for Ukraine. We will receive a consignment from the US in the coming days. I have also reached separate agreements with European partners. No dates have been set yet, but there will be additional PAC-3 missiles,” the head of state said whilst speaking to journalists.

According to the president, a positive political decision was reached during his meeting with US President Donald Trump regarding the possibility of manufacturing missiles for the Patriot system in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy noted that it is now necessary to move as quickly as possible to the practical implementation of this decision.

“It is now very important that our technical teams, all our representatives from various ministries, and representatives of the executive branch start working on this immediately, without delay, so that we can obtain the licences very quickly – as soon as possible – and begin production in Ukraine,” the president emphasised.

He also reported that Donald Trump had emphasised that only two or three countries are currently capable of manufacturing Patriot missiles, as the others are not yet technologically ready to do so. According to Zelenskyy, the United States has recognised Ukraine as a country capable of mastering such production.

Separately, the President noted that Ukraine is interested in Japan’s expertise, particularly that of Mitsubishi, which manufactures missiles for the Patriot system under an American licence.

“We would certainly be delighted to have them in Ukraine. We would like to exchange expertise, but this depends on the willingness of the Japanese side. We have great respect for Japan, its technology and its development. We are ready to share our own developments and technologies. I am confident that we will share a common vision in many areas,” said Zelenskyy.

It was previously reported that the US administration is preparing to transfer licence rights for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine.
