Ukrainian forces are shooting down 92–96 per cent of conventional ‘Shahed’ drones, so the Russians are switching to jet-powered ones — Flash

“As soon as we started shooting down 92–96 per cent of petrol-powered ‘shahids’ during attacks deep behind Ukrainian lines, their use became impractical. That is why the enemy is increasingly using jet-powered ‘Shaheds’ for attacks on the rear. Their numbers are growing,” wrote Flash.
However, according to him, petrol-powered ‘Shaheds’ are still being actively used for attacks on border towns, in particular on petrol stations, warehouses, energy facilities and transport. The close proximity to the Russian border makes it possible to use radio control rather than relying on GPS or satellite communications, which can be jammed.
It is worth noting that the jet-powered Shahed can fly approximately three times faster than the standard version, as well as at a higher altitude, making it more difficult to shoot down.
Flash noted that the total number of ‘Shaheds’ being launched at Ukraine has decreased. According to him, this may indicate a shift in part of production towards the mass manufacture of jet-powered ‘Shaheds’.
