The Verkhovna Rada’s Budget Committee has recommended that parliament adopt Bill No. 15167 on the allocation of the military levy to a special fund within the state budget. From 1 January 2027, it is proposed that these funds be used exclusively to cover the pay of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel.
Russia has violated the ceasefire that Ukraine initiated at midnight between 5 and 6 May. According to Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, Russian attacks continued throughout the night, involving 108 drones and three missiles.
Following the strike by the Ukrainian Defence Forces on the Russian company VNIIR-Progress JSC, there may be delays in the production of long-range weapons in Russia. The new draft of the Civil Code of Ukraine will be finalised ahead of its second reading in the Verkhovna Rada. Fuel prices in Ukraine are likely to rise further. Sergey Kuyun, a fuel market expert and director of the consultancy firm “A-95”, has stated that petrol and diesel prices could rise by a further 4–5 hryvnias per litre due to the situation on the global oil market and the gap between wholesale and retail prices.
Law enforcement officials have charged four members of the illegal armed groups of the “LPR” who, according to the investigation, tortured and sexually assaulted a female volunteer in the Luhansk region in 2014. One of the suspects is also accused of unlawfully seizing her car.
