Estonia has provided Ukraine with a new energy assistance package worth over €400,000
Estonia has provided Ukraine with another energy support package totalling €408,000. This was announced by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna during a joint briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga in Kyiv.
According to Tsahkna, the aid is purely practical in nature and was collected not by the government, but by the Estonian people, non-governmental organisations and private companies. Of the total amount, €200,000 was allocated directly to the purchase of generators for Ukraine.
The minister stressed that for Estonia, as a small country, such support is the maximum possible, but at the same time sincere and necessary in this difficult period for Ukraine. He emphasised that this is real assistance that should strengthen the energy resilience of Ukrainian communities.
In addition, Tsahkna said that the Estonian government is considering additional funding for the PURL programme, which provides for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
The Estonian foreign minister's visit to Ukraine will last several days. On 4 February, he opened a shelter in the Zhytomyr Regional Centre for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation, the construction of which was financed by Estonia.
