In the Rivne region, a 13-year-old boy drowned in the Horyn River: details of the tragedy

The boy went out for a bike ride and went missing
According to the police, at around 01:20 on 21 June, a resident of the village of Tsepcevychi in the Sarny District contacted the police.
The woman reported that her 13-year-old son had gone out for a bike ride the previous evening at around 7.00 pm and had not returned home.
Police officers, rescue workers and local residents were involved in the search.
The child was found in the river
At around 10:00, the boy’s body was discovered in the Horyn River near the village.
Law enforcement officers found the child’s bicycle and clothing on the riverbank.
According to preliminary reports, no visible signs of violent death were found during the examination of the body. The exact cause of death is to be determined by a forensic medical examination.
Investigators have opened a criminal case under the section on murder, with a note stating ‘accident’.
The police are urging parents to keep a particularly close eye on their children’s activities during the summer and to remind them of the safety rules near bodies of water.
