Kim Jong-un supervised the test of new long-range anti-aircraft missiles
DPRK leader Kim Jong Un personally watched the test launches of new long-range anti-aircraft missiles in the East Sea. This was reported by North Korea's state media, Yonhap
According to the Korean Central News Agency, the launches were carried out by the DPRK Missile Agency to initially assess the tactical and technical characteristics of the new type of weapon. The launched missiles accurately hit mock air targets at an altitude of about 200 km, which indicates a significant interception radius.
The report notes that these tests are part of planned measures to technically optimise missile systems. Kim Jong-un congratulated the developers on the successful test and emphasised the importance of further building up air defence capabilities.
In addition to the missile programme, the North Korean leader visited the construction site of a nuclear submarine with a displacement of about 8.7 thousand tonnes capable of carrying missile weapons. He announced his intention to accelerate the pace and scale of construction of surface and submarine ships and systematically equip them with offensive weapons.
Kim Jong-un also got acquainted with the research of new underwater weapons systems under development and presented a plan to reorganise the naval forces. He also criticised South Korea's plans to build a nuclear submarine with the support of the United States, saying that such steps increase instability in the region and pose a threat to the DPRK's security.
