New materials in Epstein case could hit Clinton
On 19 December, the US Department of Justice published part of the materials in the case of financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexual offences and trafficking in minors. This is an array of documents of more than 300,000 pages, which were made available after a special law was passed by Congress. The agency clarified that the review and publication of the remaining materials will take at least two more weeks.
This was reported by The Public https://thepublic.info/ with reference to Axios, BBC and The Guardian.
The new array of materials includes numerous photos and records of Epstein's contacts with prominent politicians, businessmen and show business stars. The most attention has been drawn to the materials relating to former US President Bill Clinton. In particular, a photo of him in a swimming pool with Gislaine Maxwell was published, as well as partially retouched pictures of him relaxing in a hot tub.
At the same time, there is almost no additional information about current US President Donald Trump in the new materials, although his name has previously appeared in testimony and correspondence related to the Epstein case.
A Clinton spokesman said the former president had stopped all contact with Epstein long before the revelations and had nothing to do with the alleged abuse. At the same time, political disputes continue in the US over the completeness of the published data. Some congressmen believe that the DOJ has published only a small part of the evidence, and a significant amount of information is still classified.
According to official data, more than 1200 victims have been identified in the case file. Epstein died in 2019 in prison in Manhattan, and his case has become one of the biggest criminal and political scandals in the United States in recent decades.
