Russia has struck a port in the Odesa region: two people have been killed

On 11 July, Russian forces launched yet another strike on port infrastructure in the Odesa region. Two people were killed and two others were injured as a result of the attack. A civilian cargo ship flying a foreign flag was also damaged

This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.

What is known about the consequences of the attack

The strike hit one of the ports in the Odesa region. The blast wave damaged lorries that were on the port premises. Two drivers were killed as a result of the shelling. Two other people were injured. Medical staff provided them with the necessary treatment.

Damaged civilian vessel

A merchant vessel flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis was also hit during the attack. A fire broke out on board after the vessel was struck, but it was quickly brought under control. According to preliminary information, no crew members were injured.

Russia continues to target port infrastructure

The Ukrainian authorities emphasise that Russian forces are systematically targeting civilian ports, merchant vessels and logistics infrastructure. Such attacks pose additional risks to international shipping and the operation of maritime transport corridors.
