США та Еквадор розпочали спільну операцію проти наркотерористів
This was announced by the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) on social media platform X.
The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced the start of a joint operation with the Ecuadorian armed forces to combat drug-trafficking terrorist organisations in the country.
The statement notes that on 3 March, the US and Ecuadorian military launched an operation against recognised terrorist organisations.
SOUTHCOM stated:
"Together, we are taking decisive action to combat narco-terrorists who have long sowed terror, violence, and corruption among citizens throughout the hemisphere."
SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis Donovan praised "the Ecuadorian Armed Forces' unwavering commitment to this fight, their courage and determination demonstrated in their actions against narco-terrorists in their country."
Earlier, SOUTHCOM announced a strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean, which, according to them, "was transiting known drug trafficking routes."
The US military has repeatedly reported strikes on vessels transiting such routes. In particular, one such case was reported on 14 February.
