Zelenskyy outlines conditions for peace, elections and role of the Coalition of the Willing
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Coalition of the Willing has not yet finalised security guarantees for Ukraine, and its real effectiveness directly depends on the readiness of key states to provide military presence after the ceasefire. According to him, not all countries are ready for this, and in many cases, decisions also require parliamentary approval
Zelensky stressed that the military involvement of the UK and France, which lead the coalition, is particularly important. The signal for the start of practical work should be a ceasefire, after which the military presence can begin almost immediately
Commenting on the possibility of a referendum on the peace agreement, the President noted that it was not a mandatory way. At the same time, he considers it necessary to leave the society with the right to choose in case of too complex and sensitive decisions, although ratification is possible through the parliament
Speaking about the elections, Zelenskyy explained Ukraine's readiness to prepare for them as a desire to demonstrate to partners, including the United States, its readiness to compromise in peace talks. Elections are possible only under the condition of a ceasefire and with the support of partners in security and infrastructure issues
The President also stressed that there is no alternative to the active participation of the United States in the peace dialogue. In his opinion, it is Washington's stronger pressure through sanctions and military support that can force Russia to agree to peace
Zelensky also noted that online voting could help Ukrainians abroad and the military at the front, but this possibility is not currently provided for by law and requires additional decisions
