This year’s summer season for passenger transport will be more challenging than last year’s, due to a sharp rise in demand and a reduction in the number of carriages.

An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the Turkish province of Malatya on the morning of 20 May. The epicentre of the tremors was recorded in the Battalgazi district. Following the earthquake, schools in the area were closed, and people began to leave buildings and gather in open spaces.

Ukrainians will be able to pay less for heating and hot water if, due to Russian attacks, these services were provided intermittently or were of significantly poorer quality. The government has clarified the adjustment mechanism: in such cases, consumers will only have to pay 20% of the cost of the service.

Serhiy Tihipko’s Universal Bank has listed a holiday resort and hotel in Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, on the OpenMarket online auction platform. The starting price for the lot is 30.94 million hryvnias. The property is situated in the tourist heart of the Carpathians.

Ukrainian singer Anna Trincher has responded to a new song by her ex-husband Oleksandr Voloshin, in which he once again touches on the history of their relationship and divorce. Following questions from her followers, the singer commented on the track briefly and ironically, without publicly escalating the situation.

Businessman Timur Mindich has filed a lawsuit against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He is seeking to have the decree imposing personal sanctions against him overturned. News of the lawsuit emerged on 14 May. The panel of judges who will hear the businessman’s case has already been appointed.

Government Bill No. 15258 has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada; it aims to introduce liability for violations committed during the granting of statuses related to the war and the defence of Ukraine. This concerns the status of combatants, persons with war-related disabilities, war veterans, family members of deceased veterans, Defenders of Ukraine and other categories defined by law.

Nine pupils were injured in Sevastopol after a balcony collapsed at School No. 13. Three of the children are in a critical condition. The injured include six boys and three girls, all aged 17. According to updated reports, a further six pupils are in a serious condition.

ARMA has announced a tender to select an administrator for assets that belonged to the sanctioned businessman Kostyantyn Zhevago. These assets consist of real estate owned by SKN “Suchasna Komertsiyna Nерухомість” LLC.

Officially, the case involves three sitting Supreme Court judges and one retired Supreme Court judge. The anti-corruption authorities have not disclosed the names of the new individuals implicated, but information regarding the likely parties involved in the case and their background has already emerged in the public domain.

An official ceremony was held at the Bonnevoy Cemetery in Luxembourg to hand over to the Ukrainian side the remains of Colonel Andriy Melnyk, leader of the OUN from 1938 to 1964, and his wife, Sofia Fedak-Melnyk. The remains are to be transported to Ukraine for reburial in Kyiv at the National Military Memorial Cemetery – the Pantheon of Outstanding Ukrainians.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy has approved the new line-up of state representatives on the supervisory board of NPC “Ukrenergo”. The board now comprises Yuriy Boyko, Yegor Perelygin and Mykola Brusenko. The supervisory board of NPC “Ukrenergo” consists of seven members: four independent members selected through a competitive process, and three state representatives.
