Emergency power cuts in Odesa due to grid overload after shelling
Power engineers of Odesa Oblast have been working for six days to restore the grids after a massive rocket attack on the night of 13 December. Experts have managed to find technical solutions that have allowed almost all consumers to get their electricity back on.
At the same time, a significant part of the equipment operates under temporary schemes and with an increased load. Such solutions cannot transmit the full amount of electricity without the risk of accidents. As a result, in some areas of Odesa and Odesa district, there may be forced emergency outages, especially during peak consumption hours in the morning and evening.
Power engineers emphasise that they are trying to make the restrictions as predictable as possible, but the stability of electricity supply largely depends on the behaviour of consumers. Excessive load on the grid can lead to longer blackouts.
Residents of the region are urged not to switch on all powerful electrical appliances at the same time, but to use them in turn. According to experts, even such a simple rule can reduce the risk of accidents and keep the lights on in the homes of thousands of people.
