Ukraine needs to supply Taurus and Tomahawk missiles
Famous retired German general Klaus Wittmann expressed his opinion that in order to achieve peace in Ukraine, the West should move to much more active support for the country. In particular, he pointed to the need to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles such as Taurus and Tomahawk. According to him, Vladimir Putin will agree to peace talks only when he realises the inevitable failure of his military campaign, Urinform reports.
Wittmann noted that ensuring Ukraine's security, especially in the context of the country's non-NATO status, is critical. "Security guarantees are currently being discussed, but they will not have a real impact until the authorities in Moscow realise the extent of their loss."
The General also welcomed recent statements by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the possibility of supporting Ukraine, but stressed that these are only conceptual ideas without concrete solutions. He called for measures to be taken to deploy troops directly to the region.
Wittmann stressed that it is critically important that Western countries change their approach to military assistance to Ukraine, providing it with all the necessary resources in a timely manner. He emphasised that the passage of time and delays in providing support have only exacerbated the problem. In addition, as the expert noted, the transfer of Taurus and Tomahawk missiles could significantly undermine the capabilities of the Russian army, complicating its logistics and military operations.
