In Abu Dhabi, the American side once again proposed an energy truce between Ukraine and Russia. Kyiv supported the initiative, but Moscow has not yet responded, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During a conversation with journalists, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that US representatives in Abu Dhabi had once again proposed an energy truce. According to him, Ukraine immediately confirmed its readiness to support the initiative to de-escalate tensions in the energy sector, while Russia has not yet given its consent. Zelensky noted that the Russian side usually responds to such proposals after its representatives return to the Russian Federation.

The head of state also confirmed that the continuation of peace talks is scheduled in about a week in the United States. The American side proposed to hold a bilateral meeting of the negotiating teams of Ukraine and Russia on the territory of the United States, presumably in Miami, for the first time. Ukraine has already confirmed its participation in this format.

Separately, Zelensky spoke about the content of the negotiations in Abu Dhabi on territorial issues. He stressed that no progress had been made in this area, and Ukraine had once again confirmed its unchanged position on Donbas. According to the president, the formula "we stand where we stand" remains the most fair and reliable model for a ceasefire. The American side, for its part, again raised the issue of the possible creation of a free economic zone, which Zelensky called a compromise idea of the United States, which the parties recorded in the discussion.

The president also noted that no common understanding had been reached on the future operation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. According to him, this issue should be resolved comprehensively, together with the restoration of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, the use of water resources and the restoration of the region's ecosystem.

At the same time, Zelensky drew attention to the change in the rhetoric of the Russian delegation. According to him, during the negotiations, it was more specific and focused on practical issues of monitoring the ceasefire and possible compromises, without previous historical digressions.

The president confirmed Ukraine's readiness to discuss the most difficult issues at the level of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States and Russia. According to him, for the first time, the parties allowed for the possibility of a trilateral meeting, but this requires preparatory elements.

Zelensky also said that the US wants to end the war before the beginning of summer and is likely to put pressure on the parties in accordance with this schedule. He linked this deadline to the start of the active phase of the US congressional election campaign. At the same time, the president noted that he had not received any signals about the possible withdrawal of the US from the negotiation process in case of failure.

According to the head of state, Ukraine will offer the US a consistent plan for the adoption of documents to end the war. Zelensky stressed that it is important to clearly define the stages and deadlines if Russia is truly ready to end the war. He also outlined four key documents that should form the basis of security guarantees. These are a bilateral agreement between Ukraine and the US, an agreement on the creation of a coalition of the willing with ratification in parliaments, Ukraine's membership in the EU enshrined in the Peace Plan with a clear roadmap, and a framework document that will combine these elements.

In addition, Zelensky said that the US had agreed to participate in monitoring compliance with the ceasefire after the relevant political agreements had been reached. According to him, the military is already discussing the technical details of such monitoring with the participation of Ukraine, Russia and the US. The president stressed that the involvement of the US does not mean the exclusion of Europe from this process.
