Over 700 medical facilities damaged by Russian shelling have been restored in Ukraine
In Ukraine, 725 healthcare facilities damaged by Russian shelling have been fully restored. Another 324 facilities are undergoing partial restoration. This was reported by the Ministry of Health, citing data from regional and Kyiv city military administrations as of 1 February 2026.
According to the Ministry of Health, since the start of the full-scale invasion, 2,562 facilities belonging to 819 medical institutions have been confirmed as damaged or destroyed. Of these, 328 facilities belonging to 125 healthcare institutions have been completely destroyed. Hospitals and medical institutions in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions have suffered the most damage.
The ministry notes that 67 facilities that had already been restored earlier were damaged again due to repeated attacks by the Russian Federation. Currently, full medical care is provided at 1,555 facilities, while another 185 are operating partially. At the same time, 234 healthcare facilities were evacuated to other premises.
Data on the condition of medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories remains limited, as it is not possible to reliably assess the extent of the damage. In addition, since the beginning of the war, 284 emergency medical vehicles have been destroyed, another 175 have been damaged, and 80 vehicles have been captured by the enemy.
The Ministry of Health emphasises that the healthcare system is preparing for various scenarios, including a possible transition to providing medical care in the format of so-called island hospitals in the event of further attacks on infrastructure.
