Users of iPhone 13 and newer models have access to Kyivstar's Starlink Direct to Cell technology, which works even without terrestrial coverage

Kyivstar has expanded access to Starlink Direct to Cell satellite communications for iPhone users. The service is now available all over Ukraine for smartphones iPhone 13 and newer models, the operator's press service said.

Earlier, on 24 November, the technology was launched for Android users. Now iPhone owners can also use the satellite connection in places where there is no mobile signal.

At the moment, Kyivstar subscribers can send SMS messages via Starlink satellite network. The company plans to further expand the service and add voice and mobile Internet services.

Starlink Direct to Cell is a development of SpaceX. The technology allows ordinary smartphones to connect directly to satellites without additional equipment, which is especially important during emergencies, power outages or infrastructure damage.

Kyivstar notes that the launch of satellite communications is part of a strategy to increase the network's resilience in times of war and provide communications for millions of users across the country.
