AI boom has added more than half a trillion dollars to the wealth of US tech billionaires, with Musk leading the way
The stock market rise of artificial intelligence companies added more than half a trillion dollars to the wealth of the richest US tech entrepreneurs in 2025, according to Bloomberg estimates. The combined wealth of the ten richest founders and CEOs of technology companies has risen to almost $2.5 trillion from about $1.9 trillion at the beginning of the year. The biggest beneficiary is Elon Musk. His fortune, according to the Bloomberg index, increased by almost 50% to $645 billion, and in October he became the first person to exceed $500 billion.
The top list also includes Google co-founder Larry Page with an estimated $270 billion and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with $255 billion. At the same time, Page's and Sergey Brin's fortunes increased by about $102bn and $92bn respectively over the year amid expectations of Google's progress in AI and the development of its own TPU chips.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also gained significantly, his fortune increased by $41.8 billion to $159 billion. He sold almost $1 billion worth of shares, taking advantage of the jump in quotations, and Nvidia itself, according to the article, became the first company with a valuation of $5 trillion in October.
Amid the rally, the Bank of England warned about the risk of a sharp correction if expectations about the effect of AI are overstated.
